This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am teaching 11th- and 12th-grade students. They work very hard in my AP Precalculus and AP Calculus classes because they want to succeed in life. Many of them come from families that struggle financially and they want to achieve a better social level in life.
Many of them will be the first in their families to attend college.
I always encourage them that education will give them the freedom to do what they love in life.
Due to limited financial resources in our school, we are short in providing the most basic supplies.
Technology is an integral part of mathematics learning. Today's students are tech savvy, and learn better when technology is part of their learning experience.
A new computer would increase opportunities for students to engage and delve into their own learning.
They will use the computer to complete online projects, print activities, research topics which are related to their own lives. They will use the computer to complete online homework assignments.
Students are more apt to engage and learn when the material is relevant to their own lives. A computer will help me utilize Internet resources to bridge the gap between textbooks and real world applications. By introducing financial literacy education in high school, students gain practical skills that are directly applicable to real-life situations. Whether it's creating a budget, understanding credit scores, or navigating student loans, students are better prepared to tackle financial challenges head-on.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
