Mrs. Saxon from Pooler GA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need an Apple iPod Touch, student timers, and a Learning Palette Math Kit because multiplication is a hard hit Georgia standard in 3rd grade.

Multiplication is everywhere! In 3rd grade, the base for all other math is learned: MULTIPLICATION FACTS! When I was in school, we memorized, memorized, and memorized again! I am looking for new and exciting ways to help my students learn their facts.
My students are in 3rd grade and are learning in a Title One school in South Georgia.
They are a mix of gifted and regular education students who bring unique qualities to the classroom. There is a hip hop dancer, a cheerleader, several children of military families, an aspiring evening news broadcaster, a future president, a writer, an actor, a singing superstar, a shy one, and a variety of other personalities.
With the iPod Touch, students will be able to download multiplication songs and raps to help them memorize their facts. Flashcard and math game apps can be added to keep their interest going. Technology is fast becoming an alternative way for students to learn. The Learning Palette for Math will let the students work in small groups teaching each other how to do problems. Sometimes, a teacher can harp on a subject until they are blue in the face, but students can guide each other in directions that will stick. The self timers will help the students keep track of their goals and strive to beat their previous times in math relays.
In a student's fast-paced world of X-Box, Wii, and PlayStation, teachers really need to keep on their toes and one step ahead of their students in their learning.
Technology is THE way to go with students. Teaching students how to solve multiplication problems will be a fantastic base and springboard for the mathematical learning.
