Math in Motion: Hands-On Learning with Manipulatives

My Project

Math can be challenging for many students. The magnetic regrouping math base ten place value boards will students visualize addition and subtraction concepts. Also using other manipulatives like unifix cubes and cuisenaire connecting rods can help make math concepts more concrete and easier to learn. Hands-on materials can help keep students engaged and build a strong conceptual understanding of fourth-grade math concepts.

Math manipulatives can support different learning styles and foster student engagement in order to help students retain and apply mathematical concepts.

My goal is to create a 'tool shelf' where students have access to all the math manipulatives (aka: tools) at any time to help them be more independent and confident in their learning and understanding. Two-Color counters and Rekenreks are another great resource that students can use to help with adding and subtracting. The soft tape measures will help students with measuring concepts along with various fractions concepts.

My students deserve to have access to various math manipulatives to help them throughout the school year. Many of my students are military dependents and move from place to place. With constant moving, gaps in educational learning can happen. These manipulatives will help them catch up and close those gaps.
