Math in Action: Math in the Amusement Park

My students need the KNEX Amusement Park Experience and Roller Coasters: Maximum Thrills, Minimum Danger DVD.

I am a high school mathematics teacher and the Coordinator of the Mathematics Academy in a large public high school in New York.

Each spring I organize a trip to Physics Day at Great Adventure for the students in the Mathematics Honor Society. The students are intrigued by the roller coasters. It would be wonderful to give the students an opportunity to have a hands on experience involving roller coasters.

If we had the Roller Coasters: Maximum Thrills, Minimum Danger DVD and the KNEX Amusement Park Experience building set, the students would be able to participate in a valuable learning experience prior to this trip.

Your help will give my students a look into the math and science behind amusement park rides. Students love to go on these rides - it would be great for them to understand the role that math and physics play in the construction of these rides.
