This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

After reading "Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics Grades K-12" by Peter Liljedahl I am very excited to engage my students with vertical whiteboards and math manipulatives in my classroom. I teach grades 6-8 and we have been spending a lot of time working in groups. The students LOVE it, and the mathematical discourse and discovery is really taking off. They are also enjoying being out of their seats and working with a variety of different people; the process is definitely a positive boost to the social and emotional goals I have set in my classroom. Seeing the students so engaged also makes me feel like a new teacher!

It would be great if I can obtain the funding for the resources I have selected to improve the process and keep it going well into this year and the upcoming school year.
