Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
School is not supposed to be all fun and games, but it should be some fun and games. Currently, I teach 9th Grade Algebra at the High School for Arts and Technology at MLK. My students work hard and are making me very proud with the amount of Algebra they are learning. I often want to reward my students with a Game Day where they will have the opportunity to build communication skills with the other students in the class. They will also be able to apply the skills they learned in the classroom to fun games.
I am asking for a lot of games so that I can create a Game Library in my classroom. I want my students to have fun playing Monopoly and figuring out if they have enough money to purchase a house or apartment. I also want my students to increase their vocabulary by playing Scrabble, Pictionary, and Taboo. Other games I am requesting are Jenga, Trivial Pursuit, Chess, Checkers, Chinese Checkers, Uno, Connect Four, Scattergories, Cranium, Guesstures, and Loaded Questions. I know that with these games my students will learn how to relate to one another and learn how to devise strategies so they can win the game.
Please fund my Game Library. My students work so hard and I am unable to reward them with a Game Day. I want to reward my students for all of their work!
