My students need math manipulatives/games including Multiplication & Division, Addition & Subtraction, I Have, Who Has, Addition and Subtraction Unknown Quantities, Word and Number Swatters, Fraction Dominoes, Two Color Counters and Flash Cards.
All of my students are students with special needs and have individual education programs (IEP's). They are all included in a general education classroom and are pulled out of the classroom for me to work with.
My students have special learning needs that involve them using manipulatives, games, special paper, individual white boards, special workbooks, and wiggle seats.
All of my students have goals that involve using manipulatives to learn to spell and complete math problems. They all use special paper with three lines on it in order to learn to form their letters correctly and keep their numbers lined up correctly by place value. They all respond well to educational games as not only a fun way to learn but as a way to build social skills, too!
My Project
My project is to acquire some math games and manipulatives to allow my students to learn their basic addition/subtraction facts and their multiplication/division facts. I'm requesting math manipulatives/games including Multiplication & Division, Addition & Subtraction, I Have, Who Has, Addition and Subtraction Unknown Quantities, Word and Number Swatters, Fraction Dominoes, Two Color Counters and Flash Cards.
My students need math manipulatives and games in order to help them meet their IEP goals.
By playing fun games, my students will not only be able to learn their basic addition and subtraction facts or multiplication and division facts but social skills as well. As they learn to work together to play a game, they will learn how to problem solve and to correct each other.
While using the math manipulatives my students will be able to problem solve using a visual and hands on tool that will allow them to be successful in math! They can work together to practice their math skills while using one of the math games to learn their multiplication or division facts. Students who work together learn valuable social skills like problem solving, turn taking, empathy, listening skills, reasoning skills, and coping skills.
