Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students come from high poverty, low socioeconomic, inner city apartments. Our school is 100% free and reduced-price lunch. Most of our children come from Spanish speaking homes and are enrolled in ELL classes. However, these obstacles do not deter their love for learning!
These students know the importance of a good education.
They are excited about learning and eager to soak up new concepts and knowledge each day. Their determination and hard work is inspiring and something to behold.
My Project
My students will be able to have fun with math concepts using new hands on materials that will generate excitement for the concepts being introduced.
I can't wait to see their eyes when they get use the magna doodles for the first time.
I can hear their oohs and aahs already and look forward to that thrilling moment. I will be able to have fun sorting, counting and making patterns with the pompoms and google eyes.
The materials will add a new level of learning and fun in my centers when the students have time to freely explore the ideas presented.
