My Project

Our school has adopted a new curriculum which focuses on building thinking skills in math. This requires students to work in groups of three to collaborate on problem solving based learning. Research has shown that groups of three are best for making sure all students are engaged in collaboration. Research has also shown that having students stand to solve the problems increases focus and participation. Finally, research has shown that retention of math skills is much higher in problem-based collaborative learning environments. I have access to stand-up white boards for four groups; however, my class will require an additional 4 stand-up boards so that all students can participate in this program. Based on the size of the room, the double-sided white board can be used for two groups, while the individual boards can be placed in areas of the room which have less space. My students are in a Title 1 school and deserve to have the supplies that will allow the classroom to turn into a building thinking classroom where best practices invoke learning and collaboration.

Ms. Cullison will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by September 2.
