This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach third grade in a Title I school. The school is in the middle of a neighborhood. My students come from varying backgrounds. Many of our students have limited parent support and are economically disadvantaged.
Despite many of the students' challenging backgrounds, students come to school ready to learn.
They are leaders in the classroom and around the school.
My students are very hard workers. They want to do well, and I want to provide them with the tools to do so!
My Project
With the Daily Math Fluency kit, my students would gain a much richer understanding of number sense. This kit would allow for hands-on learning.
This kit will provide real life skills to help students become more automatic in their math skills.
It is a perfect enhancement for our math curriculum. These lessons can be implemented in just 10 minutes with either whole group or in small groups.
Working on fluency with numbers will enable my students to compute faster without having to rely on calculators. When students don't have to waste their brain power on simple computations, they can focus their energy on real math learning and understanding.
