Mrs. J. from TX is requesting educational kits & games through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need different instant math centers such as file folder games, magnetic tiles, and light up timers.

I have been teaching for three years. My school is located in the Greater Third Ward community of Houston, TX. Since my school is recognized as a title one school, many of the students I serve come from low socioeconomic families. Some are faced with economic and social challenges, such as lack of community resources for parents and children and lack of educational opportunities. Despite the challenges, my school and classroom focus on building skills that are necessary to continue beyond the classroom.
My students are eager to learn new things, collaborate, socialize and experiment with many opportunities to grow their minds.
I have witnessed their love of exploring and learning through play and hands-on learning. Of course, this is the way it should be for a group of 5 and 6-year-old. I want to provide a collaborative learning space that encourages each student to be engaging and allow for meaningful opportunities to practice the skills that are necessary to move beyond the classroom.
The different resources I am requesting will allow my students to practice math concepts through collaborative approach. The children will be able to work in small group on activities such as the Numbers & Counting Folder Game Library. This is a box filled with colorful file folder games that reinforce number concepts through a board game approach. Another game that I am hoping to receive for my students is the Magnetic Activity Set. This game has various tasks cards with magnetic manipulatives with numbers on them that the children attach to the appropriate card.
All of the materials that I am requesting will help my students to learn the required math concepts in kindergarten in a more effective and helps to prepare them with skills needed beyond the classroom.
