Math Centers for Our Classroom Community Learners!

My students need math centers to strengthen their math ability. With a 30 minute block daily, my students will build the much needed background information in math.

My Students

Everyday my students say, "When can success happen? Every day! Every minute! Every second!" With that motto in mind, I know my students come to class with celebration on their mind. I instill for my students that success is why we come to school and with that success we can accomplish anything!!

My students come to school hungry, and tired but I see their faces light up when they walk into the room.

With 99.9% of my school receiving free and reduced lunches, my students come to school ready for breakfast every single day. After our breakfast, each student knows it is time for success. With that mindset, we start on our Morning Journals right away. I see that my students want to be challenged and succeed. I see also that my students do not have the background information about subjects such as literacy and math that most school-age children possess. I want to strengthen those math concepts this year for my students. By the end of the year, I want my students to fluently add and subtract within 100. I want my students to measure and identify objects with a sharp precision. Our community of learners is up for the challenge and with the right funding I know we can change the lives of those in our community with simple resources and a mindset that success is available to everyone.

My Project

In my classroom, the Math Centers will be used as a daily activity at the end of the day. I feel strongly that my children need to practice their skills learned from previous lessons through a different method. With hands-on learning, I feel that my students will gain background information on math such as fluency in addition and subtraction. With a designated time and place in our classroom, students will challenge themselves in solving problems and gaining incentives for work completed. I want this time at the end of the day to be the extension to our previous learning of a concept in math. Through a kinesthetic approach, I know my students will enjoy moving while learning math!

Imagine a classroom where students struggle to understand concepts taught from day to day.

Within my classroom, my students need foundation in math in order to move onto new topics. With the help of math centers, I want to fill in those cracks that a student might be missing from a previous concept like addition. I know my students can succeed with the resources from the LakeShore Learning kit. I want to give my students every available resource to be successful in my class and future.
