This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
With 13 boys and 6 girls, I have an extremely active group of students this year. With all that energy in the classroom, it's important for me to keep my students busy with intriguing activities to help them focus on their learning. Some of my students have had up to two years of schooling, but some are coming straight from home with no experience working with other students. Our goal this year is to not only work on Kindergarten standards, but also learn how to cooperate, be a good friend, and listen attentively.
My Project
These materials will be perfect for our math center rotations because they give the students an opportunity to work on their number sense. The Unlock It! number locks have them practicing counting 1:1 and matching to a number. The Magnetic Ten-Frames Builders show students how numbers can be manipulated to make other numbers. The Building Math Skills Listening Centers set is a great way for my students to not only work on a variety of math skills, but also work on following verbal directions. The Hands-On Counting Tray is perfect for helping them slow down while they count and see that counting up means increasing by one.
