Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with the best kids in town! I'm lucky enough to come to work every day and be greeted by 31 smiling and happy-to-see-me faces. My students are very diverse, motivated, focused, and eager to learn and try new things. They are very inquisitive and love hands-on experiences. They come from a rural town in the Central Valley of California. Despite coming from various backgrounds, living situations, and economical statuses, each and every one understands their value in our classroom and the importance of their education.
My Project
We do math every day using the district provided curriculum which consists of a workbook with a multitude of worksheet pages. Some students are excited to do math any day and in any way presented to them, but striving sometimes become nervous, and this results in anxiety that blocks their learning from happening, which is why I would like to provide my students with a different view and medium for learning math.
These board games will help students understand the concepts in a less abstract approach.
I want these Math Games to help my students build confidence in math concepts using a hands-on approach. I want my students to use these board games to gain a different perception of math and to help solidify concepts that may present a struggle for them.
Helping me provide hands-on games for my students will help them be more successful in class and prepare them to tackle the next grade's Math more confidently.
