Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am currently teaching students with learning and behavior difficulties in special education in a lower socioeconomic area. The school is located in Southern California. This classroom is 6th through 8th grade and is one where our students have many needs. The students have severe issues that require a large amount of support. The students are currently
back in the classroom full time during the pandemic.
The classroom has needs that are hard to fulfill without outside support. The students work extremely hard when motivated. Unfortunately, this is a class that requires lots of additional rewards.
I am looking to help them have a better and more productive year especially during Covid.
My Project
This is a grant consisting of wants as well as needs. I could realy use the math tools. The math tools I chose are devices that allow students to work on math independently and see how they do. The power pens allow students to quiz themselves on different types of math. The math machines are a fun way to practice basic math skills. These tools will primarily be used with my students that are deficient in math skills.
I have asked for incentives as well.
Treats are a good motivation for my students. I have requested both healthy and non healthy snacks. This will give the student a choice.
The last item I asked for is a gift card for Teacher pay Teachers. This website allows teachers to sell their materials to other teachers. There are incredible lessons and materials on this website.
All support helps our students succeed. It takes a village to raise a child. Grants like this help educate and reward our children.
