Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are hard working little learners. Our school is a Title 1 school. They love to read and learn new things. They love that I allow them to think for themselves. They are becoming great problem solvers.
I love to see them explore and have fun learning educational knowledge and skills that will help them become future problem solvers of the world.
I usually create projects for them to work on that fully engage them. I know they do not have many of these opportunities at home.
A lot of our students come from economically disadvantaged parents. 90% of my students come from at risk families. The majority of my students stay within their neighborhood. The neighborhood does not have child friendly areas that allow for our children to enjoy and learn from. The majority of the areas have parks that are dangerous to be at. The neighborhood as a whole makes the school their number one place to bring their children to enjoy themselves in family friendly educational events.

My Project
These materials that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door!
These learning games and activity sets will be used in Math, Science and hand in hand at Recess time to promote creativity and problem solving skills when my students work individually or in groups.
They will use the Leggos, IQ Builder Stem Learning toys, Viahart Brainflakes, Tomi Toys, Jasonwell Creative Magnetic Building blocks and the Preschool Educational Constructional Kit Magnet Staking Toys to build 2 and 3 dimensional shapes that we have been working with in Math and Science. They will be creating different types of simple machines that we have been seeing and using in Science. They will also have the choice of taking turns on working with both of these projects during Recess time.
They love building and using machines.
They will also be learning how to cooperatively work with their friends when sharing materials and their ideas. These activities will push their imagination and creativity even further. This year 4 of my students will be identified by the GT department.
They will also have fun learning how to solve problems independently and dependently while playing with the building games previously mentioned and just have plain fun using their thinking skills with Jenga, Trouble and Connect Four.
The Building Bricks and the Special Connect Four are so that we can quickly cleanup and transition from one subject matter to another. Our time runs out fast when we are having fun learning.
First and Foremost, these games will give all students more opportunities to learn that working by themselves or in groups while problem solving for Math and Science, Can be So Much Fun.
