My Students

Our classroom community is made up of a diverse group of kindergarten students who vary in ethnicity, home language, socioeconomic status and learning style. As teachers, we are committed to creating an equitable learning environment in which all children can grow academically and socially. In addition to our rigorous curriculum, we also support our students' learning through project based learning. These projects help us demonstrate our learning in ways that are meaningful to us. Students are given the opportunity to direct their own learning and are empowered to express their understanding in their unique way.

My Project

Learning stations help kindergarten students hone their skills and deepen their learning by practicing key literacy and math strategies independently.

The materials in this project will help organize materials for math and literacy stations so that students can access our learning tools without requiring assistance from an adult.

Plastic latch boxes will store station manipulatives and games, magnetic strips and clips will display station instructions and helpful reminders of strategies students can use, and the laminator will ensure long-lasting labels and reusable guides. I have also included a set of water bottles for students who do not bring their own to school, as we do not have a water fountain in our classroom.

As a new teacher starting in her very first classroom, these materials help our whole classroom community start the year off right. These materials will help our youngest learners gain independence which will lead to lifelong love of learning and success as future scholars.
