Help me give my students new sets of pocket folders to create independence and organization, anchor chart paper for visuals, and sensory materials to continue to build on their fine motor skills.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite these challenges, I look to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. From the minute they walk through the door of my classroom I focus on their potential growth.
My students are creative, clever and want to learn!
I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day by creating a positive, safe environment where they will want to continue to learn and succeed!
My Project
My students love to use all of their senses to help foster their learning. By having anchor chart paper, I can create visuals for my students where they can reference previously taught materials as well as practice their own handwriting. By giving my students sensory materials they can continue to work on their fine motor skills developing a stronger ability to hold utensils such as pencils, markers, scissors and glue. As the year goes on, I want my students to become independent and by giving them these folders I can create that independence by having the students be organized and having a place for them to keep their things. It will also allow me to continue the communication between home and school to relay messages and papers to their family members.
