My Students

Hi, I teach Social Studies to grades Pre-K through 5 grades in a title 1 school. This means more than 86% of the school's students are at or below the poverty level. Our school has worked hard for the past few years to ensure that learning is fun and exciting for everyone.

Social Studies is an important part of our school.

My students come to school excited to learn and I want to ensure they always remain that excited about learning. Students love to learn about civil rights, women's history, black history month as well as their own communities and neighborhoods. But, no matter what grade I teach, I need materials to help make planning and teaching the curriculum easier on a daily basis.

My Project

Unfortunately, with budget cuts and other monetary issues schools face today, replacing social studies supplies is impossible. We need copy paper, to help copy assignments and homework each week. Folders will help my students keep their work neat and orderly throughout the year. Treasure chest rewards will reward my younger students for their behavior and learning. All these things are necessary and important to ensure learning occurs throughout the school year.

Social Studies should be fun for everyone and with the necessary materials, this can happen. My students deserve every opportunity to enjoy learning.
