Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I'm an City Teaching Alliance Fellow and 4th grade ELAR/Social Studies teacher via Dallas ISD serving a Title I school, where 99% of the scholars come from low-income families and receive free or reduced-price lunch. This doesn't solemnly define the children who attend the school. They are brilliant, full of life, and operate with a growth mindset. My scholars live in a tough neighborhood, yet this doesn't keep them from being South Dallas proud! They deserve the best education and learning environments. I do not want them to worry about their needs being met in any classroom. Our classroom is a safe space and home away from home. I want to provide them as much as I can to be successful in my English Language Arts Class. Scholars are in need of in class and take-home homework folders, pencils, Expo markers and paper for in literature crafts/activities. Paper essentials are for in class group projects, anchor charts, and reports. Headphones are for sensory needs, auditory learning accommodations, fluency centers and online activities.
