Mastering Math: More Manipulatives Please!

My Students

Our students have Autism and Intellectual Disability along with other secondary disabilities. They come from all different areas of the city and our school qualifies for free lunch.

Despite incredible challenges the students disabilities present each student, they are ALL filled with the LOVE TO LEARN.

The students communicate in a variety of ways. Some of our are non-verbal and use a device to communicate. Some students can communicate simply by talking. All of our students have the ability to succeed with the right tools.

My Project

During math instruction, we are fortunate to have highly researched based interventions for our students to close the gaps in their learning so they can make progress.

Our students learn in so many different ways, often times they learn through touching and counting.

They are each very different students with Autism and Intellectual Disability.

Our students are amazing. They are incredibly caring, hard working and and are a HUGE part of Houston Elementary School. With these resources we will have the ability to practice our math concepts specific to each student. We would be so grateful to have these materials.
