Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a small multicultural community within a larger urban area. Many students are from socioeconomically disadvantaged homes. We also have a wonderful community of deaf and hard of hearing students that mainstream into our general education classes, making our school truly a place of learning for all types of learners.
My students are a highly motivated, curious, and intelligent group of second graders.
They love to learn new things and take on challenges. They come from a wide range of ethnicities and many of them are second language learners. Oftentimes, the materials we receive from DonorsChoose.org are the only opportunity they have to access the creative tools they need to develop 21st-century skills. This makes your donation to my project even more important and meaningful in their lives.
My Project
The ETA hand2mind Daily Math Fluency kit that I am requesting will help my students master math fluency. It is so critical that students truly develop a strong number sense in order to be successful with math learning.
The primary grades are a critical time for building a strong mathematical foundation.
It is also important that students develop a love for learning math. They need to have early success so they feel empowered with their ability to solve more and more difficult math challenges.
This kit will allow my students to have hands-on math manipulatives to help them deepen their understanding of math concepts, relationships, and numeracy.
