This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My math students are eager to learn and understand their grade-level math concepts. They better understand math concepts when they are able to use manipulative, play math-related games, and use game-type technology. When using the math manipulative they are able to discuss what they are doing, and this enables them to make connections to real life. They enjoy turning and talking when they have visuals to assist with their explanation. They are very excited to use the models when attempting to solve problems.

My Project

The math file folder games, centers, and cards will assist students with practicing and becoming more confident with addition and subtraction fact fluency, as well as understanding place value. Students work in small groups using mental math strategies to add and subtract fluently.

Math Fact Fluency assists students with solving difficult math problems, such as addition and subtraction with regrouping, more quickly.

When using visual aids/hands-on activities, students gain a better understanding of various math concepts.

Students are more engaged when they are working with visually appealing concrete models and when they work collaboratively with their classmates. These hands-on activities will liven up math lessons and motivate students to be successful.
