My Project

Thank you for taking the time to check out our Zen Zone project. Our students are resilient, full of potential, and come from diverse backgrounds. Our school embraces students academically, socially, prioritizing an inclusive environment for all students, including students with disabilities. As a special education teacher, I witness student struggles and triumphs. Students can become dysregulated in any setting in the school. Because of this, we have created a student "Zen Zone," a place for students to go when they feel overwhelmed or need a break.

Our Zen Zone project offers various seating and regulation options for students.

Students can use the couch and sensory tent for seating, reading, and resting, and it also transforms into an enclosed space for security and regulation. The active items, such as the spinner, building bricks, and puzzle board, are enrichment and regulation activities. The mat gives students a safe surface to hit and kick when upset and keeps staff safe when working with dysregulated students. The fiber optics and gel boards offer sensory input options for students seeking sensory input. Additionally, a request for a hand-held vacuum to keep the Zen Zone a clean space is essential.

This project will provide our students with a balance of comfortable seating options, active learning tools to meet their needs, and become regulated, so they can return to learning. The Zen Zone offers our students a quiet and purposeful location to access breaks as needed. When students need to rest, they can also sleep in this area, which is another reason why it is crucial to keep the space clean.

Offering these options to students supports them in reaching their highest learning potential in purposeful learning environments. Thank you for donating to our project. Our students are grateful for your support!
