My Students

60 students each day will walk through the door of our classroom. They will be introduced to the world of mathematics one lesson at a time.

Our classroom is their "home away from home." Our students are brought up in our classroom.

We are the models of their learning and are motivated to inspire them from the first step into our room. Their lives at home may not be as fortunate. Their resources may be limited. Their homes may be broken. Emotional & behavioral issues are existent, but will not inhibit their learning in our positive environment. Their basic needs are rarely met at home. Here in our class, we want to meet the needs of every student, no matter what that need may be.

My Project

Participation and group work is the key to success! We will use some of these materials as anchor charts to help students remember key information and will remain hanging up all year...but those large pieces of paper can be used during group work as well. Students will work together to solve everyday math problems as a group and show each step clearly. Dry erase boards and markers are used to reinforce skills and share answers during whole group discussions. Markers and paper will be used DAILY.

Think outside the box!

We do everyday! Tape isn't only used for hanging up student work... it's used for creating surface areas on the tiles in the hallway...for making angles on the floor/table!

Creativity is key and this is just the beginning of transforming our classroom into a mathematician's dream!
