Help me give my students an It’s a Snap! Counting Center, a Magnetic Numbers Fishing Set, and other Math-related materials to build newly learned Math skills.
Our school is nestled in the Foothills of Western North Carolina in a small rural community. Most of our children live in low-income households where families struggle to make ends meet. All of our students receive free breakfast and free and reduced-price lunches. We have several children with educational and special learning needs. Also, we have several children in our class who are learning English as a second language.
Every child in our class has a love and an eagerness to learn!
We understand that every child learns in different ways, so we incorporate a variety of learning strategies through large group, small group, individual work, center time, play, outside time, alternative seating, and student’s choice to ensure that every student's social-emotional and learning needs are met.
Our class this year is such a wonderful and exceptional group! We feel so thankful and blessed to have these students in our class this school year! We love Teaching!
My Project
Our class loves Math! We are excited and want to give our students a fun and new opportunity to learn Math skills in number recognition, counting, one-to-one correspondence, sorting, patterning, and measuring. We cannot wait to share these new Math materials with our students in small learning groups! We will use the It’s a Snap! Counting Center as a fun way to teach students number recognition and one-to-one correspondence. We plan to use the Magnetic Fishing Game in our water exploration table to teach students number recognition, and students will develop fine motor skills. We will use the animal counters and other Math materials with our students to build counting skills, number recognition, measuring, patterning, and sorting knowledge. As our students become more confident in learning these Math skills, we plan to let the students use these Math materials independently in our classroom Math Center.
The Math skills my students will learn using these Math materials will help them be successful in PreK and prepared them for Kindergarten next school year!
