This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Transform our classroom into a real-life science laboratory with butterfly kits! By providing these kits, my students will have the opportunity to witness the incredible transformation from caterpillar to butterfly firsthand. Not only will they learn about the life cycle of these beautiful creatures, but they'll also gain valuable insights into metamorphosis, biology, and the importance of conservation.

Our school lacks the resources to provide hands-on experiences like this for our students.

Many of them have never had the chance to observe the life cycle of a butterfly up close. By bringing these kits into our classroom, we can offer a unique and engaging learning opportunity that will inspire curiosity and foster a deeper understanding of science.

These butterfly kits include everything we need to raise caterpillars and witness their transformation into butterflies, including caterpillars, habitats, food, and educational materials.

I am a Special Education teacher, currently teaching students from kinder to 4th grade where our students come from diverse backgrounds. Many of them face economic challenges and have limited access to educational resources outside of school. By providing hands-on learning experiences like this, we can level the playing field and ensure that all of our students have the opportunity to succeed.
