Help us explore the interactions and ecosystems of marine organisms in a natural surrounding!
My students in Marine Aquatics are hard working and a great group of kids.
We have worked with several local species and had great results on the maintaining and feeding of these unique species. My classroom contains five 55 gallon tanks that are ready for some visitor! The students are completely responsible for their individual tanks and are the only ones who care for them. I know they will be excited to see the new life in the classroom!
My Project
The items I have requested are a starter for what the tanks have the ability of becoming. The echinoderms (sea stars, Sea Cucumbers, and Brittle Stars) will help them understand the roles of the detritivores of the ocean. The Marine fish will allows us to stock our existing tank in the lobby and will be viewed by 2,000+ kids a day! These items will look great for open house, classroom studies, and the several elementary schools who visit and explorer my classroom for Ocean Day every year.
The main reason I want to get these items is to spark an interest in my students for marine ecosystems.
The amount of discussion, work , and understanding that go in the preservation and aquaculture of our surroundings is unknown to my students
