Marching Toward Fitness

My Project

This year during marching band camp and beyond my hope is to increase student fitness levels through yoga and weight training activities. By beginning and ending long practice sessions with some yoga, it should increase flexibility and decrease injuries.

Many times people don't understand that marching band is indeed a physical activity.

Not only are students asked to learn and create music, but they are also performing the physical tasks of learning drill and executing movements while playing. This is definitely a cardiovascular activity.

Having the resources to implement yoga and some simple weight training would be a huge benefit to our program, as well as a positive step in the direction of increasing student fitness levels.
