March Madness Catapults

Help me give my students a March Madness themed STEM project in science.

My Project

Students learn by having hands-on experiences. I try in my class to give them as many opportunities to have these experiences. Not only do students remember these moments in class it also gets them to think outside the box. March Madness is such a wide known event and these catapults let the students be a part of the excitement that is brings. Students will create "bad" catapults and then turn them into working ones.

Students will then go head to head with their peers in a tournament style to see which catapult shoots and scores the best.

I love to transform my classroom when I do these special types of projects and this will let me elevate it up for my students.

These decoration items will be used to transform my room into a "basketball court and stadium." The cups, tape, spoons, rubberbands, hole punch will be used by the students to create catapults. We will build a bad catapult and then students will redo them to make them actual working catapults.
