Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is a Title I school that has a very diverse population of families with different needs. We support students that are second language learners and students with special needs. We strive to be an inclusive school community that welcomes anyone and we will do our best to serve them both academically and social-emotionally.

We want to give our students a window to the world through amazing and powerful books!

We know that it is vital that we provide adequate resources to ensure equitable access. Within our school, we aim to build a strong classroom environment where every student feels safe and comfortable to take risks with their learning. Risks = Mistakes and Mistakes = Learning. Through this process we push our students to understand the power of learning and growing together through collaboration.

As a school, we participate in a online program called "March Book Madness". This program allows all students ECE-5th grade to read 16 books that have been chosen to be included in this online bracket-style book tournament. Every student gets the opportunity to vote for their favorite books throughout the tournament. The books included in this project are the books that have been selected for the tournament this year. This project will give our students the opportunity to have the books in hand and not just an online read-aloud.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
