I teach at Croatan High School in Carteret County North Carolina. I teach a couple of classes of Earth and Environmental Science, a required course for all freshmen. Cartography is one of the concepts that we study. My kids love the section on maps, reading maps, topography and stereographic maps. They especially enjoy stereograms, photography that when viewed using stereoscopes, produces a lifelike 3-D visual image. The kids get so excited about this type of map skill. We only have about 6 stereoscopes in our school and I usually have about 26 kids in each class. I would love to have more stereoscopes for my classes of students...and for the other Earth Science students at our N.C. school of distinction!
