My students need math manipulatives, games of interest to practice math skills and build interpersonal skills with their peers. We will use the counters, markers, flash cards and dice near-daily; the games in weekly centers!

My Students

My students are creative, compassionate hands-on learners. Many come from homes with limited resources and many challenges, but they come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.

Our classroom pledge is, "Nothing out there can stop us in here!" No matter what's going on at home, we focus on our engagement and learning at school.

We spent 2017-2018 together in 4th grade, and we get the opportunity to loop up to 5th grade his coming year. I'm looking forward to creating new and exciting challenges for them.

Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to continue working with them!

My Project

These materials will enhance the interactive and hands-on learning lab classroom that I strive to create. My math center time is time that my students really enjoy-they rotate through four 15-minute stations that include small group time with me, independent practice, tech time, and game time with peers. Students are grouped based on skills and personalities, and they are thankful for the opportunities to play and learn more about each other. This kind of cooperative learning is at the heart of our class culture and all but eliminates behavior problems and increases respect for all.

With these new materials, my students will be able to engage with each other at their levels of skill to fill in gaps in their learning and take them farther toward their math and social skills goals.

My students already have shown an astonishing interest in team-building, brain teasers, problem-solving and cooperative tasks. This project will only help enrich their experiences with the world of math.
