Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students all have challenges learning in a typical classroom. They have Autism spectrum disorder. They have challenges reading, writing, and doing math. They are also categorized as low income and therefore have challenges with supplies.
All of my students work very hard to learn new things.
They have challenges retaining any information. I strive to use different instructional methods in order to reach my students and to teach them. I ultimately want them to be comfortable in the learning environment.
My Project
My students need a new bean bag chair for their reading center. The current one that we have has a huge hole in it and the stuffing has been leaking from that hole making the bean bag chair uncomfortable.
My current and future students also need manipulatives that will help them learn their letters and numbers.
The games will allow them to practice their math skills while using their social skills like taking turns and learning to lose. The interactive 100 chart will allow my students to touch and feel the numbers while counting to 100, which will help them use multiple modalities to learn their numbers as well as to count to 100.
The learning letters center will allow my students to practice their letter recognition skills as well as their fine motor skills when they are using the oversized tweezers to grab letters or to use different shaped magnets to create letters.
Thank you for your consideration. My current and future students will appreciate all that you do.
