My Students

Middle school is tough! Coping with middle school when you have a learning disability is even tougher. My students all have a learning disability in math. This makes learning and remembering math concepts difficult and a daily challenge.

If my students can put their hands on items, it helps to build connections to concepts I have taught.

I would like to obtain some real hands on manipulatives to help make math concepts come to life. I believe this will help my students become proficient in math.

My Project

Math manipulatives help make abstract ideas concrete and give students ways to construct physical models of abstract mathematical ideas. When using the 3-D geometric solid manipulatives, my students will be able to fold one-dimensional nets into the 3-D geometric solid to help them visualize the concept of volume.

Math manipulatives build students' confidence by giving them a way to test and confirm their reasoning as well as problem solving.

Using the color blocks and Tangrams puzzles will help my students create and test patterns as well as see shapes in a 2-D and 3-D format.

These math manipulatives will help foster a deeper understanding of many mathematical concepts for my students.
