Math manipulatives help make abstract ideas concrete and give students ways to construct physical models of abstract mathematical ideas. When using the 3-D geometric solid manipulatives, my students will be able to fold one-dimensional nets into the 3-D geometric solid to help them visualize the concept of volume. Math manipulatives build students' confidence by giving them a way to test and confirm their reasoning as well as problem solving. Using the color blocks and creative flakes will help my students create and test patterns as well as see shapes in a 3-D format. Using the dry erase graphing boards will allow my students and I a more enjoyable and less stressful time solving graphing problems. Using dry erase graphing boards will save me time and money making copies of graphing paper only to have the student become frustrated and wad it up and throw it away. With the dry erase boards, students can easily wipe off the mistake and start again. This will be less stress on everyone and when kids are more at ease, they are able to process more information.
