My Project

Our students enjoy reading books, but often cannot afford them. We have no bookstores in our city, so their reliance on the school library is heavy. When I arrived at our school a year ago, we had no manga in our school library media center. Our students are avid anime viewers, so the need for manga (the Japanese graphic novels that inspire most anime) is great. The books are quick to read, but expensive, so students don't have enough opportunity to read manga books.

My students love to find the books they most want to see in the library.

I want to make as many of these books accessible to our students, and DonorsChoose makes it possible. If the students find the books they want in the media center, they are eager to return frequently. The more they read, the more their comprehension and vocabulary grow. It's a win-win!
