My Project

My students have been requesting more mangas in my classroom library. Since my first order of manga went over so well. I told them I will try again for more. I am their Reading teacher and keep a classroom library of over 600 books for them to read daily.

I have seen an increase in students actually reading when they have something they want to read in their hands.

My students want manga. We read for 20 minutes daily and manga (Japanese style graphic novel) helps them increase their vocabulary with higher level words then what they would choose to read in a basic novel since their is graphics to go with it. I have seen an increase their state testing scores as well.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
