My Project

My students are an inspiration to me when it comes to music education. They are excited sponges that just love to absorb knowledge and expand their creative selves. It's truly amazing how quickly they learn new things.

Fun, excitement and engaged learning are all words that describe my music classroom.

My school is a Title One school with one hundred percent receiving free lunch. We have amazing families and a school community that is highly active when attending events; however, financial assistance is always an area that is needed to be supplemented by amazing programs like DonorsChoose.

Instrument playing on the barred instruments helps build rhythm, pitch awareness, and coordination, as well as setting the students up for success for middle school music. I am very lucky to have a complete set of Orff Instruments (Xylophone, Metallophones, Glockenspiels, and Contra Bass Bars) in my music classroom. Slowly over time, I have been trying to replace the old and used mallets. I have made mistakes by buying cheaper mallets which I learned hurts the music quality produced by the students. Now, I am asking for 3 sets of really nice mallets.
