Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are incredible! I have twenty-four, motivated, English language learners who are eager to learn.
My students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds with limited resources available.
We are a Title I funded, Performance Improvement school with a one hundred percent free lunch program. Many parents work two jobs and are struggling to support their families. Though their environments may not always be conducive to learning, they have an insatiable love of learning!
My Project
The new variant is spreading throughout our school and classrooms. I have many positive cases currently and hoping that the remainder of the class stays covid free. My students are so resilient, continuing to follow safety protocols.
Learning has never stopped and the kids are progressing everyday.
We use technology in and out of the class and without a mouse, it makes it difficult to write or draw. The XP Pen is a tablet with pen that can be used with apps such as Kami. This tablet/pen allows for solving math problems on virtual whiteboards where multiple children are showing their work simultaneously while practicing social distancing. They use the pen and tablet as if it was paper and pencil.
The sentence strips and markers will be used to write the words students will be creating with alphabet cards. They are colored groups can distinguish which words are theirs. The photo cases will house the many word cards they will be creating by spelling patterns.
The microphone will be used when I zoom with students afterschool for tutoring. I can easily mute with the press of a button and they can hear me clearly when I am speaking.
