This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have just arrived in the United States from a variety of non English speaking countries. Many have left loved ones behind or faced dangers along the way. Their new school is a Title I school in Houston, Texas where 97% of their fellow classmates are economically disadvantaged.

Despite the proverbial deck being stacked against them, my students are excited to learn English and are looking forward to their future.

I am grateful for the chance to teach these unique children and to watch them grow into successful young ladies and gentlemen.
