Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students are talented visual arts majors of may different ethnicities as well as socio-economic backgrounds. They were admitted to the school only after a meticulous auditioning process. They travel to our school from all across the city to pursue their passion for art and making art. They work extremely hard. This year, we will embark on three dimensional art in drawing class.

Why work in two dimensions when you could use three!

During my drawing class, students are asked to create three dimensional art on a two dimensional surface. Wouldn’t it be great to actually create a three dimensional piece of art?!

Using a 3D printing pen, my students could draw in three dimensions. They would be able to physically move around their work and see it from every angle.

Their three dimensional line drawings could be easily become models that later get developed in to three dimensional pieces such as sculptures using other mediums. The sculptures could include the use of the 3D pen filament as examples of mixed media.

When we go to the dance studio to draw the dancers, my students would be able to actually draw the dancers in 3D.
