This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My goal for my students is to create science centers and to be able to read more big books to them.

My kindergartners are mostly English Learners (EL) and English as a Second Language Learners (ESL) from low income neighborhoods.

My classroom size averages between 17-20 kids. The families are as involved as they can be, but most parents work long hours and can't spend time at home reading and enriching their minds. However, they are compassionate children willing to learn.

My Project

My kindergartners learn best with hands-on activities and working together at learning centers. This being the case, I want to create a science area where there is exploring, discovering, hands-on activities and things that they can easily access on their own. The storage center would be very useful to keep all these items in. My students also love when people read to them and they enjoy when they are big books. A big book stand that also has storage for the big books is very much needed to store these wonderful books. It would be easy to access so I am able to read more of these big books to them. Right now, when we read big books I like having my students come and point out different concepts that we are learning but it makes it difficult when I am holding on to the big book and using a chair to support it. These items would assist me to create a better learning environment for my kindergartners.

This project is important because with these centers and furniture I will be able to help my students learn better and enrich their minds with new concepts.

My kindergartners love hands-on activities and I want to be able to help them enhance their skills.
