I teach at a Title 1 (low income) school in a Title 1 school district, so many of my students face challenges involving poverty both in and out of the classroom. However, all of my students have some of the brightest and most positive attitudes toward learning that I've ever encountered. They're a very active bunch, but if they're learning while wiggling, standing, sitting, or kneeling, then I'm one happy teacher. My students are heavily interested in: space, animals, reading, math, and the world around them. As their teacher, I want to nurture my students as their reach their highest potential while in my classroom.
My Project
The large classroom rug will make a difference in my student’s learning by making the classroom feel more comfortable and warm. My classroom is getting a tile floor over the summer and I want my classroom to feel like home for my students. By having a large rug, this will give my students and I a space to gather together like a family, a space to share books, a place to talk, a place to read and write, a place to explore, and a place to learn and grow. I’m wanting to create a fun reading nook area filled with pillows and this rug will bring it all together.
