Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our learning is ever changing with the integration of Google Chromebooks into the fifth grade classrooms at our school. We are so excited to engage students in another level of thinking through technology in our work!
My students live in what is categorized as a low socioeconomic area in the city.
They come from all walks of life into an amazing school full of caring individuals who do their best to provide the best education for kids. My students work harder than most because of the high expectations they adopt after being shared with them. It is exciting to be in our classroom because the students lead the way in the learning and exemplify dedication and skill!
My Project
Our school district recently passed a tech levy to increase the 1-to-1 technology opportunities in its schools. This translated into our schools rolling out Google Chromebooks into the elementary, middle and high schools in an effort to help better prepare them for life after school. The materials requested are intended to help transition the students onto the Chromebooks in a comfortable way. The mice are intended to be an option for students to use instead of the touch-pad. The printer is intended to help display work, read sources and incorporate real-life tech into our classroom.
My project will help ease the students into a very drastically different style of learning.
These materials will provide friendly ways for students to share their learning, increase their buy-in to the technological augmentations being made throughout the school and even potentially lead other students along the way.
