Making STEM work

My Students

My students are excited to learn new things and love working with hands-on material. We do experiments, construct models, make projects, and work in groups or pairs to learn cooperatively. My students are very curious and love a challenge! We are a Leader in Me school, so we develop the whole child. We are a Title 1 school, and recently became a school where 100% of our students get free breakfast and lunch.

Because my students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and capabilities, the challenge is to focus each child on his/her own strengths and excel to the best of their capabilities.

My students range from those with special needs to gifted. We are focused on incorporating math, science, and technology into STEM activities to help students understand concepts more in depth.

My Project

Recently, our class size has increased and we no longer have enough chrome books for each child. I need one more to complete a class set. Chromebooks were chosen because of their durability, ease of use, space considerations, and our parish technology recommendations.

Each child has their own class chrome book to use in research, STEM activities, journal responses, station activity, and to pull up individualized assignments from the teacher.

Students use their google accounts to create google docs, google drawings, and google slides. Our chrome books allow each student to work at their own level and to keep progressing, and makes the students more responsible for their own learning.
