Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in our classroom includes working on academics, fine motor skills, life skills, sensory needs, and so much more. We focus on language, social and emotional, cognitive, and physical development. We also work on a lot of real-life skills in our classroom including communication skills.

Our school is a Title I school which means that the majority of our students are at the poverty level and, therefore, qualify for free or reduced-price meals.

Our elementary school has an amazing PAL (Preschool for all Learners) program that is designed to meet the needs of our students for small class settings that are highly structured. All of our students have been identified with special needs with a range of strengths and needs (autism, developmentally delayed, intellectual disability, multiple disabilities orthopedic, and other health impairments).

My students are creative, loving, smart, and (some) non-verbal! All of the students work so hard and truly amaze us with how much potential they each have!

My Project

Our classroom is in desperate need of some organized storage space. We currently have our toys on different types of bins and bookshelves. Since most of our students have language deficits, they need a lot of visual support. Having these color-coded bins with printed pictures of each item inside would be a great benefit for everyone. They would know exactly what is what and where they can access it. Another added benefit to this storage bin is that the height is perfect for the students to easily access without help from an adult. These storage bins would be a great asset to our classroom!
