Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try!" Students in my classroom are eager to learn, passionate, and hard-working. They are an extension of my family; they inspire me every single day. I want to encourage them to try their best, learn from their mistakes and start to see their full potential.
My class thrives on hands-on, engaging activities that are fun, new, and transform their classroom to a different place.
I would love to be able to be able to transformation my room in order to bring the level of engagement to an all time high!
My Project
I want to be able to "set the stage to engage" by transforming my classroom into a Harry Potter themed learning environment. This classroom transformation will excite and engage my students who love Harry Potter.
My wizards will learn about elements, compounds, and chemical reactions all while creating potions in Professor Snape's class.
Using the backdrop, candles, glasses, and wands I can transform our classroom into a scene straight from Harry Potter. Students will travel to Hogwarts to take part in a potion class (chemical reaction activities and labs) to help them understand how different elements react to one another. The gloves, petri dishes, and cauldrons will be used to hold different compounds and liquids that students will use to investigate with.
Chemical reactions is one of the hardest concepts for my students in 5th grade science. Giving my students this unique experience will really engage my learners and help these concepts stick.
