This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Hello, I am a third and fourth grade inclusion teacher at a highly disadvantaged public school in the Bronx. 100% of my students receive free lunches and 97% of the students at my school do as well. My students LOVE science, math, and social studies. Honestly, they cannot get enough of it! The problem is that my school lacks any financial resources to be able to assist me in buying materials to show my students all of the amazing scientific experiments there are. The children love to hypothesize and they love to draw conclusions, and I would really love to show them some amazing experiments.
Hands-on experiments and manipulatives would help all of the students each day, and would reach across all subjects and types of learners. My english language learners and special education students would really be able to grasp the concepts being taught, especially those that are difficult for them when heard verbally. These experiments and manipulatives will help all of the students to be inspired to do their best work. I am asking for the help in purchasing some learning games, fun activity books, and hands-on science experiments from Lakeshore Learning.
I would also like to have my students be able to present science fair projects using the donated materials. It is very important for students to learn at as young of an age as possible how to use technology and science in their lives.
These materials would help each one of my 25 students more than words can express as well as so many more students in years to come. Thank you so much in advance!
