This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from homes with multiple siblings. Most of the time grandma also lives in the home. If there is a computer at home they only have one computer for the entire family. Half of my students do not participate in remote learning. The affects of the coronavirus doesn't stop there. The virus not only took away jobs it took-away free breakfast that use to warm my students' tummies early in the morning. It took away lunch that they looked forward to; most of the time this was their best or last good meal of the day. Everyday we hear how the virus has taken its toll on adults but we never hear about the affects it is having on our children.
My Project
My students need four Dell Chromebooks to use during remote learning. We need good reliable computers that are easy to set-up and maintain from home. The computer learning programs that we use are designed to reinforce strategies the students learn when they work with me in small groups. My students will be able to interact with each other as they continue increase their academic growth. I will also be able to work one-on-one with my most struggling students. We can share our screen to make sure she/he is understanding the lessons being presented.
